Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has yet to find his best form this season and, with just a solitary goal in the Carling Cup to his name, the towering striker has become a punching bag in the press. However, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer believes that Reds boss Kenny Dalglish can still tap into the forward's potential.

Speaking to The Mirror, Shearer commented, "If there is one guy who'll get the best out of Andy it will be Kenny.

"He'll be able to pass on all the experience and know-how he has gained.

"Andy hasn't had the best of starts to the season, but I'm sure he will come good."

Shearer, now serving as a pundit for the BBC, knows both Dalglish and Carroll through his multiple stints at Newcastle. The prolific English striker played under Dalglish during the Scot's tenure at Newcastle and worked with a young Carroll while serving as the Magpies' temporary manager to close the 2009 season.

Carroll has recently seen his place in Liverpool's starting lineup taken over by Dirk Kuyt, but the Geordie could be in line for a return to the first 11 with multiple matches next week coming on the heels of Saturday's toothless loss to Stoke City.

Think Dalglish can get Carroll to rediscover his best form? Should Carroll return to the starting lineup this weekend against Spurs or should Kuyt retain his starting berth?
