Liverpool Fans Give Verdict on Contrasting Halves, Steven Gerrard's Return, Andy Carroll's Shift During 2-1 Win Against Wolves Liverpool responded to eight days of misery that saw them drop English Premier League games at Stoke and Tottenham by winning consecutive games. Wednesday's Carling Cup win over Brighton was a difficult one for the Reds, and Saturday's 2-1 win over Wolves was no different. As we reported earlier, Liverpool grinded out these three points on Saturday.

Now, we take a look at the thoughts of LFC supporters worldwide, as they weigh in on the game's central themes.

Liverpool's Mixed First Half Yielded Excellent Results

No, it wasn't a picture of perfection, but ask any supporter if they'll take a two-goal lead into the break and they'll respond with a resounding, "H Yea!" Luis Suarez and Charlie Adam's (yeah yeah, Roger Johnson's own-goal) goals capped a solid first-half effort for the Reds, though there was much room for improvement. Mido and James Owens certainly thought so, while Janice was optimistic about what was to come.

Mido@MidoAkaPrinze: Well played LFC especially in the first half. LFC need to be more clinical in front of goal. Andy Carroll is playing better- #unlucky #YNWA

@JamesSethOwens: Cracking goal from Luis Suárez but #LFChit and miss first half. Lot of sloppy fouls, sluggishness without the ball and overhit long passes.

@ingrid313: Suarez a gift from heaven; no goal, but Carroll setting up brilliantly; Lucas spot on, as always; should get 2 more b4 final whistle! #LFC

Liverpool's Questionable Second-Half Performance Becoming a Maddening Trend

The contrast between Liverpool's first and second halves this week has got to worry those inside and outside of the club. Brighton and Wolves controlled major portions of the second half and supporters have taken notice. Wolves forward Steven Fletcher's 46th-minute goal was a portent of the next 30 minutes.

@EnsignVorik: 2nd half performances been awful. Don't understand why changes aren't made when they should be either. Allowed to go on for too long. #LFC

@liam_d_odonnell: Well, that 2nd half was like being in purgatory – not good for a man with a family history of heart disease. Still, a win is a win. #LFC

@funkybrew: Ya good win everyone. But after spending well this summer, we can't afford 2nd half disappearance acts! #LFC #YNWA

@kailuca: Our second half performances worry me…..#LFC #YNWA #JFT96

Steven Gerrard's Anfield Return

Liverpool won't reach their peak this season without their captain and talisman Steven Gerrard bombing up and down the field. Kenny Dalglish and his staff are bringing him along slowly. He played just under a half hour on Wednesday and went 10 or so minutes against Wolverhampton. In each case, his presence lifted his teammates and went a long way toward securing the victories. His reintroduction to the Anfield faithful was met with rapture.

Nnaomah Francis:  With Uncle Garrard in the pitch, we’re sure of the 3 points!

@RafeekN: KOP @LFC we not playing our best & missing a leader which Gerrard is to #LFC.But sign of a good team is they win games even wen tey play bad

Did Andy Carroll Give a Performance That Justifies the Hefty Price Tag?

The frustration that supporters and observers have regarding the start of Andy Carroll's Liverpool career is well known. The towering striker's impact on Saturday's game was more profound and enduring than it's been in other games this season. He even hit the post with a second-half header. The jury is still out on his performance. Kieran Mock and Kevin Thompson are deadlocked on the issue.

@Meaziiee: Andy Carroll played average .. Stop going on like he played amazing. #LFC

@KevThompson: Carroll's 2nd half performance arguably the best I've seen him in a red shirt. Deserved that header goal that hit the post. #lfc

So there you have it. Liverpool supporters -– well-informed and opinionated as always -– weren't blown away by the performance by any stretch of the imagination. But they have to be happy to walk away from the tricky Wolves game with the full complement of points. The upcoming Merseyside derby and England's derby against Manchester United will provide much much more to discuss. As always, we'll be a part of the discussion.
