Sports contracts these days can be somewhat outrageous.

In baseball, Nationals pitcher Chien-Ming Wang's contract ensured him $50,000 if he won the Silver Slugger Award. In 14 plate appearances, Wang has never recorded a hit.

NFL players also appear to be getting paid for things they aren't doing and Forbes decided to exploit them, as the magazine took a look at the highest paid NFL players and pulled out the 10 most overpaid players whose 2011 salaries don't quite add up.

Mark Sanchez headlines the list, as the New York Jets quarterback is due to make $14.75 million this season. Over the past two seasons, he was ranked 28th and 27th, respectively, in passer rating. Another player with local ties is former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel. The Chiefs QB is coming off his best season in which he was eighth in passer rating and went to the Pro Bowl. So far this season he's been picked four times and has tossed just one touchdown to go with 252 total passing yards.

Eight more players rounded out the list, including Miami defensive tackle Paul Soliai, who is making $12.4 million, but has only started a grand total of 20 games in the past four years.
