Novak Djokovic capped a weekend of emotional remembrances across the country on Monday night in the moments after he won the U.S. Open.

Djokovic, a native of Serbia, defeated Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in front of a raucous crowd in Queens, N.Y.

Following the emotional victory, the No. 1 player in the world donned an FDNY hat, the latest tribute in the sports world to remember the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. He also wore the hat to the court prior to the match.
