Vote: Should LSU and Alabama Play in BCS National Championship Game? One squad is the undisputed No. 1 team in the nation.

The other has just a single loss, and it came to that same top-ranked team.

As college football's regular season winds down, a vocal portion of its fans are calling for a rematch between No. 1 LSU and No. 3 Alabama. Those fans want to see the Crimson Tide, who lost to LSU, 9-6, two weeks ago, take on the Tigers in the BCS National Championship game.

Before last week, that seemed unlikely. Oklahoma State, Boise State and Stanford were all undefeated, and rationalizing an unbeaten team getting shut out of the title game in favor of a one-loss club would have been difficult — even by the warped logic of the BCS.

Now, only LSU and Houston are unbeaten, and the Cougars stand no chance of facing the Tide in the championship game.

If Alabama gets the berth, there will be no shortage of one-loss teams who may take exception. Like the Tide, No. 4 Oregon's lone loss came against LSU. No. 5 Oklahoma has an opportunity to avenge its only loss of the season if it meets Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game.

Oklahoma State and Boise, meanwhile, will wonder how a team that didn't even win its division can play for a national title.

With another week of games, plus conference championships, remaining after this week, there's plenty of time for this to get sorted out. If not, the BCS will have another mess on its hands.

Should LSU and Alabama meet up again this season in the BCS title game?
