Rex Ryan Denies Report About Jets Losing Faith in Mark Sanchez, Calls Quarterback 'My Guy'Mark Sanchez still hasn’t evolved into an elite quarterback in his third NFL season, so if the Jets were to eventually start exploring other options, it shouldn’t be all that surprising.

But head coach Rex Ryan denies that Sanchez is falling out of favor in New York.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported on Sunday that the Jets have begun to realize that Sanchez may not be the answer at quarterback, and that they’ll quietly explore their options going forward.

Ryan vehemently denied the report, according to Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger, saying, “It’s just not true. I’ve said repeatedly, ‘This is my guy.'”

Florio notes that Ryan’s continued support for Sanchez isn’t surprising, as the Jets reportedly will continue to publicly support him, unless and until they decide to make a change. According to Florio, whatever ends up happening, the fact remains that the Jets are privately assessing whether the quarterback of the present is also the quarterback of the future.

For the Jets to make the playoffs, they must beat the Dolphins, and have the Bengals lose to the Ravens, the Titans lose to the Texans, and either the Raiders lose to the Chargers or the Broncos lose to the Chiefs.

In other words, the Jets’ preseason Super Bowl aspirations are once again on the verge of becoming just that and nothing more, and Sanchez’s inability to elevate his game might just be a big reason why.
