Liverpool FC hopes £7.5 million ($11.7 million) will convince FC Groningen to part ways with David Teixeira. The Reds want to bring the Uruguayan striker to Anfield before the end of the month, according to Click Liverpool.

"Teixeira, meanwhile, is also understood to be in negotiations over a switch with Liverpool hopeful that fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez can prove pivotal to securing his signature," the report says.

Teixeira, 20, has been dubbed "the new Luis Suarez" in some circles. He plays for the same Dutch club that Suarez joined in his first stop in European soccer. Teixeira also finds the net like his compatriot, netting nine goals in 15 games for Groningen this season.

It was only in July that Teixeira joined Groningen from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting. But his early Eredivisie (first division) exploits have alerted scouts at a number of clubs about his potential.

Liverpool is thought to be leading the chase for the player because of the contingent of Urugayans on the club. Suarez and defender Sebastian Coates hail from the South American nation. They would presumably help Teixeira adapt to life in England — both on and off the field.
