The Red Sox announced Wednesday that Kalish underwent a successful right shoulder arthroscopy and posterior labrum repair. The surgery was performed on Tuesday in Los Angeles by Dr. Lewis Yocum, and Kalish is expected to make a full recovery.
No timetable was given for Kalish’s return, but he is expected to miss all of spring training, which is another unfortunate blow to what has been an injury-plagued career for the Boston outfielder. Fortunately, Kalish will only be turning 25 in March, and he’ll therefore have plenty of time to overcome his injury woes.
The shoulder that was operated on this time around was Kalish’s non-throwing shoulder. He previously injured his throwing shoulder in 2011 while making a diving catch.
