The Bruins forward skated at B’s practice Monday, a sign that he is progressing well and getting closer to returning. Thornton has been out since Jan. 31 when he suffered a concussion following a first-period fight with Buffalo enforcer John Scott.
Thornton’s return to the ice is an encouraging one, as is the news that Claude Julien shared following practice. Julien informed reporters that Thornton was symptom-free, but he added that Thornton isn’t quite ready to return yet. It’s also unlikely that Thornton makes the trip to Montreal for the two rivals’ first meeting of the season Wednesday night.
“Obviously there’s a protocol to follow and we’re going to follow that to the letter,” Julien said, according to the team’s website.
Thornton also biked on Sunday.
The 35-year-old has racked up three fighting majors in just seven games played so far this season.
