It had been nearly two years since Devin Hester had a touchdown return — that seems like an eternity for him. On Sunday, he reminded everyone just how good he can be.
For some inexplicable reason, Redskins punter Sav Rocca decided to punt to Hester midway through the third quarter on Sunday. The four-time All-Pro return man fielded the punt along the sideline at his own 19-yard line before bobbing and weaving his way through the Redskins.
Hester threw a sweet stiffarm on one Redskins defender to get the run going, but once he was loose it was time to throw it in high gear. Hester took the ball across the field to the opposite sideline and followed his blockers to midfield before throwing the burners on and leaving all 11 Redskins in his rear-view mirror.
The return was Hester’s 19th touchdown return of his career, tying him with Hall of Famer cornerback Deion Sanders for the NFL record.
