Floyd Mayweather Jr.Embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been banned for life from associating with anything NBA-related, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to let go of the team without a fight. Sterling said the Clippers are “not for sale,” but that hasn’t kept a line from forming of people interested in buying the team.

Floyd Mayweather joins the list of millionaires and billionaires interested in purchasing the Clippers if Sterling does end up selling the team, according to Yahoo! Sports. Mayweather met with the media Tuesday at the MGM Grand Garden and was upfront about being part of a group interested in buying the team.

“I can’t come in here talking about Mayweather only going to get three percent or four percent,” Mayweather said. “I got to get a solid percentage. But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We’re very, very interested in buying the Clippers.”

Mayweather said that in the event that he did purchase the Clippers, his days betting on NBA games would be over.

“Let’s see if we can do it, and it’s not just talk,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind. Once I get ownership in the Clippers, I could no longer bet. I’d have to stop that completely.”

“Money” Mayweather is the highest-earning athlete in the world.
