The Boston Bruins announced Sunday afternoon that defenseman Adam McQuaid underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle Thursday.
The expected recovery time is eight weeks.
McQuaid missed 52 of Boston’s 82 regular-season games and hasn’t played in any of the team’s seven playoff games. He tallied six points (one goal, five assists) in 30 games.
The 27-year-old D-man was bothered by a quadriceps injury earlier in the year.
The Bruins evened their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens at a game apiece with a thrilling 5-3 comeback victory Saturday in Game 2.
The series will shift to Montreal for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
