NFL: Preseason-Cleveland Browns at Detroit LionsJosh Gordon might catch a break if the NFL Players Association is able to work out the kinks in the league’s new drug testing policy.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday that the Cleveland Browns wide receiver’s yearlong suspension could be reduced to 10 games. However, a league spokesman told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that “there continue to be significant unresolved issues” with the policy, namely whether players who would be reinstated under the new drug policy should be eligible to play Sunday and Monday.

If Gordon’s suspension is reduced, he’d be reinstated for Week 11. Gordon received the punishment after testing positive for marijuana while already a part of the NFL’s drug program.

However, Gordon’s most recent positive test would not have been one under the new policy, which raises the threshold for a positive test to 35 nanograms per milliliter from the previous 15 ng/ml.
