Heisman Trophy winners are rewarded for their outstanding individual seasons, but only some leave a lasting impact.
Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott are front-runners for the prestigious award as the 2014 college football regular season nears its end. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston earned the honor last season.
While their seasons are most definitely Heisman worthy, there are several players throughout college football history who have won the award while achieving legendary campaigns that are nearly impossible to match.
From former Michigan cornerback Charles Woodson becoming the only primarily defensive player to win the award, to Barry Sanders’ record-shattering year with Oklahoma State, college football has seen its fair share of all-time greats.
