Team USA looks ready for the world hockey junior championships.

The Americans rolled to a 5-2 win Friday night in an exhibition matchup with Boston University at Walter Brown Arena. Team USA held its training camp at BU during the week.

The Terriers were missing one key piece to their puzzle, though. Freshman phenom Jack Eichel skated opposite his BU teammates on Team USA, as he’s expected to be an important contributor for the world junior squad. Eichel scored one of the Americans’ two first-period short-handed goals — Boston College freshman Noah Hanafin had the other — 24 seconds apart to help them jump to a 2-0 lead. Team USA outshot BU 15-1 in the first 20 minutes.

The star of Team USA’s win was Chase De Leo. The 2014 Winnipeg Jets draft pick, who’s playing for the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL, scored a goal and added two assists for a game-high three points.

Brandon Hickey (goal, assist) and Brandon Fortunato (two assists) each had two points for the Terriers.

The world junior championships begin Dec. 26, with Team USA facing Finland in its first game.
