Tony Gonzalez: Bill Belichick Coached Me Into Blocking In The Pro Bowl

Bill Belichick just might be a miracle worker.

Case in point: The New England Patriots head coach once pressured All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez into performing menial tasks during a Pro Bowl. Joe Posnanski explained in his incredible “Everyone’s got a Bill Belichick story” feature.

Gonzalez took it easy on a kickoff and failed to block anyone during the Pro Bowl. Belichick was none too pleased and cursed him out on the sideline.

“Why don’t you (bleeping) block somebody, Gonzalez,” Belichick said.

On his next special teams snap, Gonzalez went all out and “absolutely mashed the defender.”

Gonzalez then went to the AFC sideline specifically looking for a response from Belichick. He got it.

“Nice block, Gonzalez.”
