Brady Quinn: Patriots ‘DeflateGate’ Uproar ‘A Bunch Of Hot Air’

Brady Quinn can’t believe we’re talking about this.

The former NFL quarterback would like to hear more about the modern-day dynasty that is the New England Patriots in the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era. The Patriots are getting ready to play in their sixth Super Bowl under this regime, an accomplishment that is shocking in an age of salary caps and player movement.

Instead, we’re talking about air pressure.

“This all goes back to Spygate, which was without a doubt a legitimate offense,” Quinn wrote Wednesday on FootballbyFootball.com. “Eric Mangini takes the head coaching job with the Jets, lets the NFL in on a little secret, NFL investigates … badda-bing, badda-boom … the Pats are fined and lose some draft picks for filming the Jets’ signals during a game.

“That was cheating. Everyone is in agreement on that. It was handled and dealt with, case closed.”

But “DeflateGate” has nothing to do with Spygate, and it didn’t give the Patriots any advantage against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game or in any other games in the past, Quinn insists. It’s all a media creation, albeit one that has captured the attentions of football fans nationwide.
