Allen Craig has been removed from the Boston Red Sox’s 40-man roster and outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket after passing unclaimed through waivers, the team announced Monday.

The outfielder/first baseman had been unable to gain any steam at the plate since his July 2014 trade from the St. Louis Cardinals, batting .130 (19-for-146) with two home runs and four RBIs in 53 games with the Red Sox.

Craig, a National League All-Star in 2013, was assigned to Triple-A on May 9. He had appeared in five games for the PawSox entering Monday, hitting .261 with three doubles in 25 at-bats.
