As Detroit Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez toed the rubber to begin the third inning Monday night, he glanced out toward the outfield. And it’s a good thing he did.

Sanchez wisely held up when he noticed what the Cincinnati Reds’ broadcasting team failed to: He didn’t have a left fielder. Yoenis Cespedes, penciled into the lineup in that position, was nowhere to be found.

Well, not exactly “nowhere.” He was just somewhere no one was eager to look.

“Really, you don’t know what’s going on here,” the FOX Sports Ohio announcer says.

“But you can guess,” his boothmate replies.

After the prolonged bathroom break, Cespedes returned to his spot in the field. He ended up going 2-for-4 with an RBI in Detroit’s 6-0 win.
