Isaiah Thomas has been there before.

The Boston Celtics point guard was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2011, but their breakup wasn’t exactly amicable. So when the Kings reportedly inked former Celtic Rajon Rondo to a one-year, $9.5 million contract Friday, leaving starting point guard Darren Collison in the dust, Thomas took a jab at the team on Twitter.

While Thomas’ situation in Sacramento didn’t play out exactly like Collison’s, it wasn’t much better. Thomas became a free agent after the 2013-14 season, during which he enjoyed a career year with 6.3 assists and 20.3 points per game. Despite that (and the fact that Sacramento went 28-54 that season), the Kings let him walk and replaced him with Collison.

But now, it’s all come full circle, and Thomas is in Boston after half a season with the Phoenix Suns and Rondo is in Sacramento, where tensions are high and seem to be getting worse. So, it’s safe to say that Thomas ended up better off in the end.
