Landon Donovan Takes Apparent Shot At Jurgen Klinsmann, Is Roasted By Alexi Lalas

It appears Landon Donovan isn’t totally over his World Cup snub just yet.

The United States soccer star was passed up for the 2014 squad and understandably wasn’t very thrilled. He said he was “disappointed” and “sad” by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s decision to not bring Donovan to Brazil.

If time does heal all wounds, it appears Donovan hasn’t quite completed that healing process. Shortly after the Americans advanced to the Women’s World Cup final with a win over Germany on Tuesday night, Donovan sent a complimentary tweet, praising the team for keeping veteran Abby Wambach on the roster despite limited playing time.

It’s tough to argue there wasn’t at least a little bit of shade thrown Klinsmann’s way.

Eesh.

It was then that American soccer legend and current TV analyst Alexi Lalas decided to join the fray, going over the top at Donovan.

Donovan responded with this.

Good times.
