The New England Patriots were the best team in football last season with the best tight end on the planet, and this year’s “Madden NFL 16” rankings reflect that.

Well, pretty much.

EA Sports released the latest version of its popular football video game Tuesday, which means the much-anticipated “ratings” are out as well. These numbers usually spark plenty of debate, but Patriots fans won’t have much to bicker about.

All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski was one of just three players to earn a 99 overall rating, joining Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt. Gronk’s ranking certainly is justified, as he led all NFL tight ends last season with 1,124 receiving yards.

The 26-year-old also caught a touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLIX to help New England defeat the Seattle Seahawks. As expected, the Patriots and Seahawks are the two highest-rated teams in “Madden 16,” but they’ll have to share that honor — both teams are rated 91 overall.

It also appears the latest offseason scandal hasn’t deflated Tom Brady’s status in the eyes of “Madden” creators. The Patriots quarterback has the second-highest rating among QBs at 97 overall and has league-best marks in short- and mid-range throw accuracy.

Brady’s former teammate also earned a 97 overall rating, as New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis tied Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman as the top-rated cornerback.
