FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ injury woes lessened Tuesday.

The Patriots received two days of rest after Saturday’s preseason win over the New Orleans Saints, and nine players returned to practice. Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson, tight end Scott Chandler, defensive ends Trey Jackson, Eric Martin and Rufus Johnson, and running back Travaris Cadet, all of whom didn’t participate in joint practices with the Saints last week, were back on the practice field Tuesday.

Edelman left the session early to work on the lower practice field for conditioning.

Offensive lineman Ryan Wendell came off the physically unable to perform list, and offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann came off the non-football injury list by practicing.

Wide receiver Brandon LaFell; cornerback Darryl Roberts; linebackers Dekoda Watson and Dane Fletcher; offensive linemen Marcus Cannon, Chris Barker and Bryan Stork; tight end Jake Bequette, and defensive linemen Joe Vellano and Chris Jones remained out of practice. Barker and Watson were newly absent.
