Philip Rivers finally got the deal he was looking for.

The Chargers announced Saturday that after weeks of negotiations, their quarterback signed a four-year extension that will keep him in San Diego through 2019. Rivers’ deal reportedly is worth $84 million, $65 million of which is guaranteed, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune.

Rivers originally said he envisioned himself playing out the final year of his contract in 2015 instead of signing an extension.

“What I can control and all I know as of today, I am signed up for one more year,” Rivers told Acee back on March 17. “I guess things could change, but with all the uncertainty in many aspects, I don’t see it changing before camp gets here, and when camp gets here I’€™m even more certain to play it out.”

After having one of the best seasons of his career in 2013, Rivers and the Chargers went through some ups-and-downs in 2014. He finished the year with 31 touchdowns, 18 interceptions and a 93.8 passer rating.

We don’t know where the Chargers will be playing in 2019, but now we know Rivers will be under contract then.
