Austin Czarnik, Frank Vatrano Among Bruins’ Four Latest Roster Cuts

The Boston Bruins sent four more players packing Tuesday, assigning forwards Austin Czarnik and Frank Vatrano and defensemen Chris Casto and Linus Arnesson to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Providence.

The four cuts trimmed Boston’s stable of forwards to 17 players and its crop of D-men to 10, including injured blueliners Zdeno Chara (day to day with an upper body injury) and Dennis Seidenberg (out eight weeks after undergoing back surgery).

Though the four players sent down almost certainly will not begin the season with the Bruins, Cznarik and Vatrano in particular displayed many positives this preseason and very well could wind up in Boston at some point in the coming months.

Also included in Tuesday’s transactions was the recalling of forwards Brandon DeFazio and Ben Sexton and defenseman Chris Breen from Providence. All three were cut from the big club earlier in camp and likely will be sent back to the P-Bruins before Boston opens the regular season next Thursday.

The Bruins visit the New York Rangers on Wednesday before closing their preseason slate Friday in Washington.
