All signs point to Tim Tebow winning a roster spot with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles traded quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, according to multiple reports. Barkley seemingly had been in direct competition with Tebow for Philadelphia’s third-string quarterback job behind starter Sam Bradford and backup Mark Sanchez.

The Cardinals will send a conditional late-round draft pick to the Eagles for Barkley, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, who was the first to report the news. The Eagles drafted Barkley in the fourth round (98th overall) in 2013.

Tebow hasn’t thrown a pass in the NFL since 2012. He spent the 2013 preseason with the New England Patriots but was cut the day NFL teams were required to trim their rosters to 53 players. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner spent last season as a broadcaster.

Tebow completed 21 of 36 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns with one interception this preseason with the Eagles. The 28-year-old also rushed 14 times for 82 yards and one score.
