Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Projected Lines, Pairings For Bruins-Avalanche

Some new faces will be on the ice Wednesday night for the Boston Bruins.

Winger Tyler Randell and defenseman Tommy Cross are expected to make their NHL debuts, and backup goaltender Jonas Gustavsson is expected to play his first game as a Bruin as Boston visits the Colorado Avalanche.

Randell, who’ll skate on the fourth line alongside Zac Rinaldo and Joonas Kemppainen, was a healthy scratch for the Bruins’ first three games. Cross was recalled Tuesday from Providence after D-man Joe Morrow landed on injured reserve with the flu.

Gustavsson, who earned the job as Tuukka Rask’s understudy this preseason, has not appeared in a regular-season game since March 8. His opponent in that contest, coincidentally, was the Bruins.

Winger Brad Marchand traveled with team to Colorado but will not play as he continues to recover from a concussion sustained Saturday night.

The Avalanche, meanwhile, boast a lineup that features two former Bruins: top-line winger Jarome Iginla and third-line center Carl Soderberg. Colorado split its first two games of the season, while Boston lost each of its first three and is looking to avoid its first 0-4 start since 1964.

Here are the projected lines and pairings for Wednesday night, as reported by the teams:
