DeMar DeRozan and the Toronto Raptors currently lead their Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Miami Heat entering Friday night’s Game 6, but rumors already are churning about the star guard’s future.

ESPN “First Take” analyst Stephen A. Smith talked about one potential free-agent destination for DeRozan this summer during Tuesday’s show. And it’s not surprising.

“He’s made it very, very clear that he wants to be in L.A.,” Smith said, via Lakers Nation. “He has family out there. He’s from out there. He wants to be in L.A. He wants to wear the purple and gold, and if there’s a way for it to happen, again he’s (unrestricted), if there’s a way for it to happen, DeMar DeRozan will be in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform next season.”

L.A. is a mess right now. Kobe Bryant has retired, ushering in a new Lakers era that currently lacks a superstar talent or any young players with franchise cornerstone-type potential. The Lakers also don’t have a head coach after firing the historically bad Byron Scott last month.

There are better situations for DeRozan if he becomes an unrestricted free agent. One of them is Toronto, but if he wants to leave Canada, he’ll surely have plenty of options where he can win and make a ton of money.
