BOSTON — It looks as though the Red Sox have their ace after all.
David Price turned in another quality start as Boston’s offense exploded yet again in their 8-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts continued to be the hottest hitters in baseball in an all-around good game for the Red Sox.
Here’s how it all went down.
GAME IN A WORD
Smackdown.
The Red Sox continued to pour on the runs early, this time jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. They never trailed in the 8-3 win, and they now have 28 games with double-digit hits after adding 12.
IT WAS OVER WHEN …
The Red Sox tacked on three runs in the fourth inning.
The Rockies were in spitting distance with Boston up 4-2 going into the bottom half of the fourth, but the Red Sox quickly put that out of reach.
ON THE BUMP
— Price continued his successful streak, turning in a third straight quality start. The left-hander made it through seven innings yet again to hold Colorado to three runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Price’s one blemish was a solo home run to Rockies centerfielder Charlie Blackmon in the second inning.
— Koji Uehara started the eighth inning by giving up a single to second baseman DJ LeMahieu, but struck out the next three batters(!) to end the frame.
— Matt Barnes held it down in the ninth, working a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.
IN THE BATTER’S BOX
— Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts both extended their major-league best hitting streaks to 28 and 17 games, respectively. JBJ went 2-for-4 with a run, while Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk.
— Mookie Betts went 1-for-4Â with a run and an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
— Dustin Pedroia had a great night going 3-for-4 with two runs and a walk.
— David Ortiz did David Ortiz things, driving in four runs on a single and a double to go 2-for-4 with a run and an intentional walk.
— Hanley Ramirez went 0-for-2 before leaving in the fifth inning with a right big toe contusion. Travis Shaw replaced him and went 0-for-2.
— Chris Young went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk, and Josh Rutledge went 0-for-3 with a walk.
— Christian Vazquez hit his first triple of the season in the second inning to go 1-for-4Â with a run and an RBI.
