Dimitri Payet is a man on a mission to bring joy to France and the rest of the soccer world.

The France midfielder scored the winning goal Friday in his country’s 2-1 victory over Romania in the opening game of the 2016 UEFA European Championship. Payet rocketed a swerving, left-footed shot into the top corner of Romania’s goal in the 89th minute to give the host nation an unforgettable victory.

The goal capped Payet’s man-of-the-match performance.

It only makes sense he cried tears of joy as he left the field.

His and France’s joy probably mirrors Romania’s pains, as the Eastern European nation was just a few minutes away from starting Euro 2016 with an upset draw. Instead, Payet worked his latest magic trick.
