Update (12:15 a.m. ET): It’s all but official: Dwyane Wade is heading home to play for the Chicago Bulls.

Wade also started to say his good-byes to Miami, the only NBA city he’s called home until now.

In order to make cap room, the Bulls reportedly are working on two trades.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Miami Heat-Dwyane Wade mess appears to finally have a resolution, although not the one the people of South Beach wanted.

Wade told the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night that he intends to sign a contract with them, sources told The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski. But before the move becomes official, Wojnarowski reports the Bulls are close to trading Jose Calderon and Mike Dunleavy to make salary cap room.

Rumors of a potential Wade departure from Miami have dominated the NBA landscape since Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors. The 12-time All-Star guard reportedly was looking for $10 million more than the Heat’s two-year, $40 million offer, which helped open the door for the Bulls and Denver Nuggets.

Wade, who is from Chicago, had spent his entire 13-year NBA career in Miami and won three championships during his tenure. Now he is on the verge of joining Bulls star swingman Jimmy Butler and former rival Rajon Rondo, who signed a two-year deal with Chicago over the weekend.

Wade, 34, averaged 19 points in 74 games for the Heat last season.
