Josh McDaniels wasn’t in the mood to discuss his coaching future Tuesday morning.

Asked whether he plans to interview for the Los Angeles Rams’ head-coaching vacancy, McDaniels said his only focus is on the New England Patriots’ next opponent, the Denver Broncos.

“I’ve already spoken my piece on that,” the Patriots offensive coordinator said in a conference call with reporters. “I have a short week to get ready for a great opponent, and I’m focused on the Broncos. I know there are a lot of things going on out there, but my focus and my attention is going to stay right here in the building on the team that we have to get ready for and how we can prepare our team to play the best they can on Sunday.”

McDaniels is considered a candidate for the Rams job, which opened up when L.A. canned Jeff Fisher on Monday after four-and-a-half mediocre seasons.

While McDaniels has spent most of his career as an assistant, he does have some head-coaching experience, having spent 28 games as the Broncos’ bench boss in 2009 and 2010. The 40-year-old also has ties to the Rams’ organization. He spent the 2011 season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in St. Louis.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported Sunday the Rams hope to interview McDaniels during the first week of the playoffs, when the Patriots likely will have a bye.
