FOXBORO, Mass. — The job market is turning around, especially in New England.
With a seven-day roster exemption for formerly suspended linebacker Brandon Spikes, the Patriots added linebacker Marques Murrell to the roster Wednesday. Both Spikes and Murrell participated in Wednesday's practice, and Murrell was wearing No. 53.
Spikes' exemption expires Monday, so the Patriots will have to shed a player at that point to get back down to 53 players.
Murrell was with the Pats through training camp and was released Sept. 13.
