FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, tackle Sebastian Vollmer and defensive lineman Mike Wright have all been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Hernandez (knee), Vollmer (back) and Wright (concussion) have not practiced all week. Rookie tackle Nate Solder will start in Vollmer's place on the right side.
The Patriots also released tight end Dan Gronkowski on Friday, which will lead to another roster move. Since that left Rob Gronkowski as the only tight end on the roster who is eligible to play against the Bills, the transaction could mean the Patriots will promote tight end Garrett Mills from the practice squad. Or, depending on the health of Zoltan Mesko's left knee, it could lead to the addition of a second punter.
Safety Patrick Chung (hand), cornerback Ras-I Dowling (hip), linebacker Gary Guyton (hamstring), defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (back), linebacker Jerod Mayo (thigh), Mesko, wide receiver Taylor Price (hamstring) and offensive lineman Ryan Wendell (calf) are all listed as questionable for Sunday.
Cornerback Kyle Arrington (concussion), safety Josh Barrett (thumb), cornerback Leigh Bodden (hand) and linebacker Dane Fletcher (thumb) are probable.
