Jack Wilshire Says Arsenal is the 'Right Club' for Him to Reach the Top Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reassured supporters that he has no intention of leaving his boyhood club. The 19-year-old burst onto the scene last year, becoming a regular for club and country. In an interview with the London Evening Standard, he says Arsenal is the perfect place for him to achieve his goals.

“No disrespect to Manchester City but Arsenal is the perfect home for me right now,” he said. “Some players have got their price, but to be honest that’s not the way I look at the game. All I think about is playing at the highest level and in the top competitions so I can measure myself against the best in the world.

“I really am happy at Arsenal at the minute. Obviously I want to win things and I want to do it with Arsenal. I have been at Arsenal since I was nine and I have grown to love the club.

“There are players there who have been there as long as me and I think we are starting to build something special there with the likes of Emmanuel Frimpong and players I have seen in the youth teams coming through. In a couple of years, they’ll be big players for us.”

The skill and consistency Wilshere showed in his debut season as an Arsenal regular catapulted him to prominence on the national stage. He appeared 49 times for the club he’s called home for a decade and scored two goals.

He was expected to play an even greater role for Arsenal this season following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, but an ankle injury he suffered in June did not heal properly and ultimately required surgery.

He is not expected to return to the field before March 2012.
