It's been a rough week for Chad Johnson and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada.
Johnson was arrested on domestic assault charges over the weekend, and was subsequently cut from the Miami Dolphins. The couple's reality TV show was then cancelled in the wake of everything, making matters even worse.
The real end of the couple's relationship came Tuesday afternoon, however, when Lozada reportedly filed for divorce from Johnson just six weeks after they were married.
Lozada issued a statement about the weekend's events earlier in the day Tuesday, and Johnson responded by releasing a statement of his own.
Below is Johnson's statement, courtesy of the OchoCinco News Network (OCNN).
"I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life."
