France’s Nicolas Batum apologized on Twitter Wednesday for delivering a cheap shot on Spain’s Juan Carlos Navarro during the closing seconds of their Olympic quarterfinal matchup earlier in the day.
Batum wound up and cracked Navarro in the groin, sending the Spanish guard crashing to the floor. The two teams then proceeded to push and shove each other, presumably while those around the world watching the game were still cringing from watching the vicious blow.
Spain got the last laugh, scooping up a 66-59 victory, but it undoubtedly came at a cost for Navarro.
