Nick Saban is staying at Alabama.
The 62-year-old head coach, who has led the Crimson Tide to three of the last four BCS national championships, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the SEC school, according to ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit.[tweet https://twitter.com/KirkHerbstreit/statuses/411671536811388928 align=”center”]
The financial details of Saban’s new deal are unknown at this time, but we do know that he will be the highest-paid coach in college football.[tweet https://twitter.com/Gil_Brandt/statuses/410545290840526849 align=”center”]
Saban was rumored to be a potential candidate for the head coaching job at the University of Texas, a position that is not vacant.
Alabama’s bid for a third consecutive national title ended when it lost in stunning fashion to the rival Auburn Tigers on Nov. 30. The Crimson Tide will conclude their 2013 season with a Sugar Bowl matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners.
