It appears there was a reason why Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long was profusely arguing a personal foul in last Sunday’s 51-23 loss to the New England Patriots.
Newly acquired Patriots linebacker Akeem Ayers was fined $8,250 for kicking Long in the groin, a league spokesman told The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs. Long was penalized for pulling Ayers’ leg after the linebacker sacked Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. The officials didn’t see what caused Long to react.
Ayers’ kick might not have been completely unprovoked either, however, after checking the film on NFL Game Rewind.
