Curt Schilling watched two former teammates get elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday while he was left out for the third consecutive year.

If Schilling is bitter, though, he isn’t showing it.

Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson both earned over 90 percent of votes, while Schilling garnered just 39.2 percent to fall well short of the required 75 percent mark to make the Hall. A few of Schilling’s Twitter followers used the opportunity to relay this information to the former Boston Red Sox pitcher in a not-so-kind manner.

Schilling didn’t take the bait.

Those are pretty tough burns, especially from the guy who brought Schilling’s famous “Bloody Sock” into the conversation. To Schilling’s credit, he played it cool, opting to focus on the two hurlers who made it in the Hall.

Whether Schilling deserves a spot in the Hall is up for debate, but he did well to shift the spotlight elsewhere. His career numbers are impressive, sure, but they hardly stack up to those of Martinez and Johnson, who dominated like few other pitchers have.
