According to Donald Trump, Tom Brady would make a great world leader. Or something like that.

The newest Republican presidential nominee announced his bid Tuesday, and during his speech, he compared the New England Patriots and their quarterback’s dominance over the NFL to China’s dominance over the United States.

“People say, ‘Oh you don’t like China,'” Trump said, per TMZ Sports. “No, I love them, but their leaders are much smarter than our leaders. And we can’t sustain ourselves with that. … It’s like — take the New England Patriots and Tom Brady, and have them play your high school football team. That’s the difference between China’s leaders and our leaders. They are ripping us.”

Trump continued his sports analogy, too, by adding that “our leaders don’t understand the game.”

It’s kind of a weird compliment — if you want to call it that — for his “friend” Brady, as China has an authoritarian government. But hey, whatever you say, Donald.
