The Houston Texans took a charter flight to Miami on Saturday, but one of their players was conspicuously absent.

Much-maligned quarterback Ryan Mallett missed the team’s flight from Houston and instead was forced to fly commercial, the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain reported Sunday.

The missed flight was the latest in a long line of issues for Mallett, who has split time with fellow Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer this season. Hoyer, who, like Mallett, began his career with the New England Patriots, was pegged as Houston’s starter for Sunday’s matchup with the Dolphins.

Mallett previously made headlines for the wrong reason when he slept through a training camp practice the day after head coach Bill O’Brien announced Hoyer was named the team’s opening-day starter.

“If (third-sting quarterback) Tom Savage was available to be the backup and not on injured reserve, it wouldn’t be surprising if coach Bill O’Brien cut Mallett,” McClain wrote.

Instead, Mallett will be fined for missing the flight, per McClain.
