Tom Brady’s busy summer apparently included a little bit of a writing.

The New England Patriots quarterback spent his entire summer defending himself and his good name against the NFL in what became known as Deflategate. You might have heard of it. However, Brady found a little time to help out an old teammate.

Former Patriots wide receiver Troy Brown has a book out about his life and career. There was only one person Brown wanted to write the foreword and that person was Brady, his former quarterback. The only problem was, Brady was in the middle of his well-publicized lengthy legal battle.

“The biggest thing is just, I didn’t want to ask him because he was smack dab in the middle of the whole Deflategate stuff,” Brown said Tuesday morning on 98.5 The Sports Hub. “I don’t think he had even been to New York yet to have the hearing (with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell). I didn’t want to ask him at that particular time.”

Despite that, and to Brown’s surprise, Brady still found a way to pen the foreword.

“To have him do it, when he was in the middle of all of that, when he needed to be preparing to go down there and face Big Roger The Duke, and do his thing down there, I felt bad about asking him to do it,” Brown explained during his appearance on the “Toucher and Rich” program. “But you know Tom, he stepped up and did it, man, and he wrote some great stuff. He wrote it from his heart, some heartfelt words in there almost drove me to tears.”
