Allen Iverson’s ‘Practice’ Rant Could Have Been About ‘Lasagna’ Instead

Allen Iverson is tired of talking about practice.

The soon-to-be Basketball Hall of Fame inductee told reporters Monday he would take back his famous “practice” rant if he could, according to CSNPhilly.com’s Enrico Campitelli.

Iverson said the constant reminders of the 2002 press conference, during which he said “practice” 22 times, can be annoying, especially when his kids get on him.

According to Iverson, he was so caught up in all that happened leading up to the press conference that he would have ranted about “lasagna” if the opportunity presented itself.

Mr. Iverson, we’re sorry about the teasing you receive from kids and strangers, but there are no take-backs on this one. Like it or not, that rant was one of the defining sports moments of the previous decade.

In fact, “press conference rant” probably didn’t exist in our lexicon before you dropped 22 references to “practice” on us in less than two minutes.

It belongs to the world now, A.I. And it’s part of your considerable legacy.

For the uninitiated, here’s Iverson’s “practice” rant in all its glory.

You’re welcome.
