Patriots Select Eastern Illinois’ Kamu Grugier-Hill 208th Overall In 2016 NFL Draft

FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots finally made another selection in the 2016 NFL Draft after a long wait between picks.

The Patriots selected Eastern Illinois linebacker/safety Kamu Grugier-Hill at 208th overall. Grugier-Hill is the second Eastern Illinois product on the Patriots, joining quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Grugier-Hill ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 208 pounds at his pro day last month. He ran a 1.52-second 10-yard split with a 6.89-second 3-cone, 4.20-second short shuttle, 38.5-inch vertical leap, 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump and 15 bench press reps at 225 pounds.

He had 70 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 10 games as a senior. He also had an interception and three fumble recoveries.
