UPDATE (2:00 p.m. ET): New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton confirmed Thursday the team will host the New England Patriots for joint practices this preseason.

ORIGINAL STORY: For the third time in six years, the New England Patriots will spend some quality time with the New Orleans Saints.

The Patriots will travel to the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia for three days of joint practices with the Saints this August, ProFootballTalk reported Thursday.

The Saints began practicing at Greenbrier last preseason due to its lower temperatures and decreased humidity. After the joint sessions, New England will travel with New Orleans to the Mercedez-Benz Superdome for their August 22 preseason game, according to ProFootballTalk.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick always has been a supporter of joint practices, as it helps break up the grind of the preseason and gives his team the chance to compete against someone in a different uniform. New England hosted the Saints for a week during the 2010 preseason and again before the 2012 season. They also welcomed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for joint sessions in the 2013 preseason.

The Patriots doubled up last preseason, traveling to Richmond, Va., for joint practices with the Washington Redskins before hosting the Philadelphia Eagles in mid-August.
