Rodney Harrison Says He Was Joking When He Called Out Tom Brady

Anyone who's seen Rodney Harrison speak over the years (and really, who hasn't?) knows when the man is being serious. So when he advised former teammate Tom Brady to "take off the skirt and put on some slacks" before unleashing a wide-eyed grin during NBC's halftime show Sunday night, it seemed a bit forced.

That's because it was.

The former hard hitter told ESPNBoston's Mike Reiss that it was all in good fun and that he had texted Brady before going on the air to let him know that he "going to give him a hard time."

Speaking on WEEI on Monday morning, Brady said he wasn't bothered by Harrison's statement.

"Rodney's like my brother," Brady said. "I love Rodney. There's nothing Rodney could ever say that would bother me. He's one my great friends and teammates. If I was a football player, I'd want to be Rodney Harrison. There's nobody that played the game like Rodney. He played with all heart. … It's fun to see him on TV. He hits as hard on TV as he did when he was playing, which is hard to believe. But he finds ways to get after everybody."
