Matt Light Returns to Practice, But Sebastian Vollmer Absent Just because it's the day before Thanksgiving doesn't mean the Patriots are taking any time off.

Although the Patriots were missing a few key pieces to the puzzle at Wednesday's practice, according to Boston.com, Stephen Neal, Matt Light and Sammy Morris all participated in preparation for Monday night's showdown against the undefeated Saints.

That's the good news. Light's reappearance was especially encouraging given that backup Sebastian Vollmer — who had an outside shot at keeping the job even after Light returned from injury — went down with a head injury in Sunday's win over the Jets.

The players who missed Wednesday's practice were:

Wide receiver Julian Edelman
Running back Fred Taylor
Defensive back Patrick Chung
Defensive end Rob Ninkovich
Linebacker Pierre Woods
Defensive tackle Vince Wilfork
Offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer
Offensive tackle Nick Kaczur
Wide receiver Randy Moss
Defensive tackle Ron Brace
