George Steinbrenner 'Feeling Good' About Himself, Yankees' 2010 Season With spring training less than a month away, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner is looking forward to the 2010 season.

“I am, aren’t you?” Steinbrenner told The Washington Post.

The 79-year-old is “feeling good” and believes the upcoming season could be another “special” year for his team.

After missing the playoffs for the first time in 13 years in 2008, the Yankees reloaded last offseason with the acquisition of pitchers CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett and first baseman Mark Teixeira. The investments paid off as the Yankees defeated the Phillies in six games to capture their 27th world championship.

Steinbrenner has had an active role in team meetings this offseason.

The Yankees acquired pitcher Javier Vazquez and center fielder Curtis Granderson via trades and signed first baseman/designated hitter Nick Johnson to a one-year deal via free agency.
