Short track speed skater Apolo Ohno has five Olympic medals, and with two more medals in Vancouver, he'll become the most successful U.S. winter Olympian ever, Reuters reports.

Ohno recognizes the potential significance of the achievement.

"First and foremost, I do my sport because I love it … but to know that I could be up there with some of the greats of Olympians is amazing," Ohno told the Today Show.

Ohno will compete in four men's event during the Olympics in his attempt to surpass Bonnie Blair's current Olympic record.

Ohno faces tremendous pressure, but the 27-year-old has experience performing on the big stage. In addition to his two previous Olympic appearances, the speed skater won the 2007 Dancing with the Stars title.

Ohno can bust a move, and he could go down in history as the best American at finding his Olympic groove.
